KNIT1 - PASS IT ON - COMMENTS Please see below for comments made by visitors at knitting shows, who have been taught to knit by our wonderful volunteers: NEC 2011 "Fabulous! I made a flower and red nose by crochet and I have not crocheted before. Thank you very much". Olympia 2011 "I
learned to knit last year at the Stitch and Craft show by a very patient
lady. She inspired me to learn a new hobby and keep expanding my skills" "Thank you very much. So helpful and informative." "Lovely
stand, volunteer who taught me was really attentive. Thanks for getting
me back into crochet." Glasgow March 2011: "Pupils
from Cardinal Newman High School, Bellshill loved finger knitting
so much they came back to learn knit and purl. They had a fabulous
time. Thank you for your patience." "You
guys taught me to crochet last year and have helped answer my questions
this year. Many, many thanks for my new hobby." "I’d
just like to say a very big thank you to the volunteer - I’m
sorry I didn’t think to ask your name - who took the time to
teach me Continental knitting at the Glasgow Creative Stitches/Hobbycraft
Exhibition (on 3/3/11), and then let me keep the yarn and the needles.
You made my day, and I have practiced what you taught me everyday
since. It has brought me much joy and I’m so very glad that
there is an organisation like UKHKA out there to teach knitting and
volunteers like you who don’t mind sharing." Brighton February 2011: "Great stall. Friendly advice. Best in show." "You
great guys taught me to knit several years ago and I am (and the children)
are still going strong. Thanks." "Super
helpful and friendly. Thanks for your advice." "I
went to the show to look around at the crafts generally but knew where
I wanted to go first. The show information highlighted the knitting
stand with the chance of having some hands on help. Being a very novice
knitter and my first time being shown, the lady was fantastic, gave
me plenty of time but more importantly reassurance and encouragement.
I walked away having learnt the purl stitch and a free ball of wool,
well done guys you made my day!" Harrogate 2010: "Jo
taught me and my mum to crochet – two life-long knitters very
satisfied! Thank you very much Jo, you were lovely." "Mary
taught me to crochet squares. I have wanted to learn this for a long
time. Thank you." "Elisabeth
solved my problem of trying to make puff flower granny squares from
"Let's Get Crafting" "Crochet Creative" which
hadn't worked for me. Big thanks as even my aunt couldn't help." "Learnt
to crochet - think I need some more practice!" "Thank
you for the lesson - I'm off to buy a needle and some wool!!" "Excellent." "Brill!" Liverpool Show April 2009: "I
attended the craft day at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool on Friday
last week. While I was there I was taught to knit by a lady but I
didn't get her name. I would just like to pass my thanks on
to her for her time, and also to your organisation for making this
possible. I have practised a little each day and have ordered
a book to hopefully learn more. I had never considered knitting
before, but have really enjoyed the little I've done the last few
days. I'm really looking forward to my new hobby, and am grateful
that you have all made this possible for me."
