Commit To Knit Month - June 2016

We are very excited to unveil a new Campaign from UK Hand Knitting called Commit To Knit Month, which will take place this June 2016.

You may remember we first launched Commit to Knit in autumn 2015 as a way for knitters and crocheters to find charities they could make items for because we know that one of the main reasons people visit our website is to find out more making items knitting for charity. More than 400 people signed up to the original campaign so we have decided to make it an annual event with a whole month of activity.

We have put together a collection of special knitting and crochet patterns for eight charities, which our lovely friends at Simply Knitting, Simply Crochet and The Knitter are including in their issues that go on sale from 23rd May.  The charities we are supporting are Knit For Peace, Project Linus, Knit A Square, Oxfam, RSPCA, Mission To Seafarers, Bonnie Babies and AYME Mums. Some of the patterns will also be put up on our website shortly as well as information about where to send your completed projects.

We are also coordinating a number of events with libraries across the country to take place on World Wide Knit In Public Day on Saturday 18th June but more on that later.

Here’s how you can get involved:

Sign up so we can keep in touch with you about the latest news, events and some great competitions to win yarns.  If you are a knitting group, you can sign up here or here if you are an individual.

Buddy up with your local library and help them to stage an event or plan your own event.  You can let us know about it by emailing [email protected]

What about holding your own event with your knitting group or friends and don’t forget to let us know?

Whatever you do during June, please take a little time out to help those less fortunate than yourself and show the world how proud you are of your craft.
